South Seattle Community College Arboretum
Seattle Attractions--Botanical Gardens
On the college campus in West Seattle
6000 16th Avenue SW, Seattle 98106
The South Seattle Community College Arboretum is a laboratory for students in the program. The Arboretum is a lovely place to walk around. The 6 acre site has at least 12 gardens in it.
You can easily spend an hour walking around the Arboretum at a leisurely pace. Avid photographers will find plenty of delightful scenes to focus on.
I personally loved the large display of dwarf conifers. The rose garden was also beautiful.
The only minor problem with the Arboretum is that students use the gardens to study plant identification so many of the plants and flowers are not identified as they are in many gardens.
On my recent visit, I did not have enough time to explore the Seattle Chinese Garden that is adjacent to the Arboretum. The Seattle Chinese Garden is completely separate from the College. I will cover the Seattle Chinese Garden in the future.
The Arboretum is open daily from dawn until dusk.
